If you want to get rid of clutter and are having difficulty parting with things because of sentimental reasons experts say take a picture of it.
In this study they had a number of subjects take photos of their stuff before donating it to charities and thrift shops. Those who took a photo first parted with 15%-35% more stuff and said it was easier to do.
This was win-win as people reclaimed some space and peace at home and also helped the local charity and thrift shops by donating.
We donate everything we possibly can when we have a de-clutter session in my house. I am going to try this if I come up with some item that gives me pause.
