Toronto Police Searching For Motive After Mass Shooting

Two people are dead and 13 others are in hospital after a gunman opened fire at around 10-p-m on the Danforth Avenue, lined with restaurants and bars.

Toronto Police Chief Mark Saunders says he believes last night’s mass shooting was not a random act, however, he also says it’s too early in the investigation to speculate on a possible motive.

Saunders says a young girl, who is believed to be 8 or 9, is in critical condition.

The chief said the shooter exchanged fire with police officers and died at the scene, but he couldn’t confirm whether he was hit by police bullets.

Police are urging any witnesses to contact them.
