A sheriff’s deputy in Oregon wasn’t sure what he would find when he rushed to a home following reports a woman was screaming for help. But his fear of finding someone seriously injured quickly subsided when he discovered it was just a pet parrot screeching “help me.” A UPS driver was the one to first hear the cries for help when he was making deliveries on Monday night. He quickly alerted the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies cautiously approached the home before they found Diego the parrot inside. They posted a photo on social media saying they had found the culprit. “We are happy to report that Diego the parrot was uninjured and in no need of police assistance,” the sheriff’s office wrote. Diego’s owner Susan Baird told a local TV station that Diego often screams out “help me” when she leaves the room to convince her to come back to him. “He’ll say, ‘Help me’ so that I’ll come back and see what he needs,” she said. Baird had been away for two weeks and her daughter was keeping an eye on the bird when deputies responded.
