A Rogers Communications executive says nothing is imminent, but
says the company might be considering the sale of such assets as
baseball’s Toronto Blue Jays and its stake in media company Cogeco
to free up capital for other investments.
In a speech to the U-B-S Global Media and Communications
conference Tuesday in New York, chief financial officer Tony
Staffieri said Rogers still wants rights to sports programming but
doesn’t have to own a team to have that.
He pointed to the company’s 12-year deal with the National Hockey
League. (The Canadian Press)
