When regular people have garage sales, they’re lucky to clear a couple hundred bucks. But when Rod Stewart decided to sell his stuff, he brought in well over $100,000. The BBC reports that the singer’s “good old fashioned clear-out” of his unwanted furniture and home decor earned him more than $117,000 at auction. The sale, held in Essex, U.K., at Sworders Fine Art, included around 40 lots that featured Victorian leather armchairs, a leopard-print lounge chair, gilt bronze side tables, 19th century wall mirrors and other fine furnishings. The armchairs were the most popular items, bringing in just under $10,000. The mirrors went for almost double the estimate — $6,500 — while the side tables brought in a little over $8,000. Every lot was sold.
