Police Looking For Hit and Run Driver

Investigators with the York Regional Police Major Collision Investigation Unit need your help to find out who’s responsible for striking a man in Whitchurch-Stouffville, leaving him on the side of the road, where he died.

Police were called to the scene near 9th Line and Bethesda sideroad at 6am Tuesday May 22, when passer-by noticed the cyclist on the roadside.

Police believe 20 year old Daunte Thompson-Bruce from Whitchurch-Stouffville, was cycling southbound along 9th Line when he was struck between 2am and 6am.

Anyone who may have been in the area any time before 6 a.m. and saw the cyclist should call police. 

Also, if you are aware of a vehicle with fresh damage, we encourage you to contact police.

York Regional Police is asking anyone with information to contact the Major Collision Investigation Unit by calling 1-866-876-5423, ext. 7704, or to call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS, or leave an anonymous tip online at www.1800222tips.com.
