Investigators from the Peel Regional Police Special Victims Unit have charged a 28 year-old gymnastics coach in Mississauga with numerous sex-related offences.
Earlier this year, investigators were contacted by a victim, a 15-year-old female from Peel Region, to report multiple sex-related criminal incidents that occurred over a four year period between the victim and her gymnastics coach.
On Friday, January 26, 2018, a Canada-wide arrest warrant was issued for Scott McFarlane, who is now facing criminal charges of sexual assualt, sexual interference, child luring under 16 years old, making sexual explicit material available to a person under 16 years of age and indecent exposure to persons under 16 years of age.
On Monday January 29, 2018, McFarlane turned himself in to Peel Regional Police and was charged with the above offences and scheduled to appear at the A. Grenville and William Davis Court House in Brampton.
Scott McFarlane was an active gymnastic coach in the Region of Peel and also coached in Oakville, Ottawa, and in Western Canada. He has been suspended indefinitely by Gymnastics Ontario.
Investigators from the Special Victims Unit believe that there may be more victims and/or witnesses and are asking anyone who had contact with McFarlane to contact the Peel Regional Police Special Victims Unit.
