National Margarita Day-Celebrating the 70th Anniversary of the Frozen Concoction

The Margarita was invented in 1948 in Acapulco, Mexico -a small beach front paradise- by a woman named Margaret Sames and  almost immediately began its rise to fame. The heady drink is made of tequila, triple sec and  freshly squeezed lime juice, shaken with lots of ice then served in a glass rimmed with salt and garnished with a lime slice. It’s the perfect combination of salty, sweet and bitter.  It’s such a popular drink that recent estimates  show that 185,000 Margarita’s are made and consumed per hour, on average , in America…cheers!
