A 97-year-old man is celebrating 80 years of working for Coca Cola, and has revealed he has no plans to stop. Fred Kirkpatrick has spent most of his life working for the soda giant in Fort Smith, Arkansas, aside from a few years he spent in the Army during the Second World War. The widower began as a clerk in the Coca Cola offices in 1938 – a time when many families were still suffering the effects of the Great Depression. He quickly worked his way up to become a bookkeeper, then an office manager before progressing to become the operations manager. Today, Kirkpatrick’s main role is looking after the brand’s museum and the archives – which includes his own vast collection of antique Coke bottles and memorabilia. And after 80 years at Coke, Kirkpatrick revealed he has no plans to retire any time soon.
