Toronto Police have announced a major blitz for next week. First: They are going after distracted drivers. Police say officers will be out in marked and unmarked vehicles, pick-up trucks, vans, bicycles and even riding TTC vehicles to try and catch drivers hiding a phone in their lap. They will also be doing a ‘tag-and-tow’ blitz to catch drivers that make illegal stops or block intersections. Mayor Tory says he hopes police are relentless and claims the lane blocking blitzes alone have led to more than 6,000 tickets over the last four years and more than 1,000 vehicles being towed.
