Kitchen Tip: Don’t Rinse Dishes Before They Go In Your Dishwasher

You don’t need to wash off all the excess grime before placing dirty dishes in the dishwasher- it might even be preventing your dishes from getting properly cleaned.

Rinsing dishes before putting them in the dishwasher could make the detergent less effective according to The Kitchn, an online magazine.

Detergent attaches itself to grimy food particles, so if the dishes are spotless going in, the soap won’t have anything to attach to.

It also claims the newer, high-tech models of dishwashers have sensors that monitor how long it takes to clean dishes, to calculate how long a cycle should last.
