Innisfil Man Killed in Serious Collision on Yonge Street

Just after 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 10, 2017, South Simcoe Police officers, along with Innisfil Fire and Rescue and Simcoe County Paramedics were called to Yonge Street, just north of County Road 89 for a two vehicle collision.

A fuel truck was stopped, northbound on Yonge Street, waiting to turn into a business to make a delivery. A northbound Chevrolet Cobalt collided with the rear of the truck. The driver of the car, a man from Innisfil, was pronounced dead at the scene.

While the investigation is still ongoing, speed and inattention are believed to be the major factors in this collision. Officers are still trying to notify next of kin of the deceased; no name will be released.

The truck driver was not injured.

Yonge Street was closed until 3:50 p.m.
