Whether you’re a hockey fan or not, you can’t help but know who Johnny bower is. Nicknamed ‘The China Wall’ for his toughness and ability to stop practically any kind of puck shot. Unfortunately Johnny passed away, after a bout of pneumonia, on Boxing Day, Dec. 26 at 93. What a legacy! And what a man! I had the privilege and thrill to meet and work with him on a few charity appearances over the years. Always a kind word and that engaging smile made you feel as though you had know him for a long time. As well as his hockey talents, Johnny had a heart bigger than any arena. He made us smile every Christmas with his heartfelt tune ‘Honky: The Christmas Goose’. No words can come close to the appreciation and thanks due Johnny Bower.
