Hall of Fame Goal Tender Johnny Bower: One of The Toronto Maple Leafs and NHL Greats!

Whether you’re a hockey fan or not, you can’t help but know who Johnny bower is.  Nicknamed ‘The China Wall’  for his toughness and ability to stop practically any kind of puck shot.  Unfortunately Johnny passed away, after a bout of pneumonia,  on Boxing Day, Dec. 26 at 93.  What a legacy!  And what a man!  I had the privilege and thrill to meet and work with him on a few charity appearances over the years.  Always a kind word and that engaging smile made you feel as though you had know him for a long time.  As well as his hockey talents, Johnny had a heart bigger than any arena. He made us smile every Christmas with his heartfelt tune ‘Honky: The Christmas Goose’. No words can come close to the appreciation and thanks  due Johnny Bower.

The Toronto Maple Leafs say fans are welcome to attend a memorial service being held at 3:00,  tomorrow afternoon (Wed Jan 3) at the Air Canada Centre for Hall of Fame goalie Johnny Bower.  Bower’s grandson and Toronto Maple Leafs president Brendan Shanahan will be among the speakers at the memorial. Former teammates Frank Mahovlich, Ron Ellis and Dave Keon will also attend.
