A 19-year-old wanted for failing to remain at the scene of an accident back in June is now facing a slew of additional charges, along with an accomplice, after being arrested in Wasaga Beach on Wednesday.
Just before 9 p.m. on September 12, 2018, members of the Huronia West OPP Community Street Crime Unit arrested two men at a business on Main Street in Wasaga Beach. One of the accused was wanted by police for failure to remain at the scene of an accident in Wasaga Beach on June 18, 2018.
During a search of the suspects, police say they discovered an illegal handgun, an illegal taser-type weapon, cocaine, crack cocaine, drug trafficking paraphernalia and cash. As a result, the two men, are now facing a number of charges. The first, a 19-year-old from Mississauga, is charged with fail to comply with recognizance, possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking and fail to stop at the scene of an accident. The second, a 19-year-old from Brampton is charged with unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking cocaine. Both accused were held for bail hearings. This investigation is ongoing under the direction of the Huronia West Community Street Crime Unit.
