One of Hollywood’s most beloved movies, “Gone With the Wind” is also one of the most successful films of all time, raking in more than $1.8 billion (based on figures adjusted for inflation), according to Box Office Mojo.
“Gone With the Wind” will be screened at participating Canadian theatres on February 10, 12, 20 and 23 as part of Cineplex’s Classic Film Series.
Despite its long Hollywood history, “Gone With the Wind” has sparked controversy in recent years due to its depiction of the Civil War from the Confederate perspective; in 2017, a Memphis theatre removed the film from its lineup of Hollywood classics so as not to appear “insensitive” in light of the controversy over Confederate monuments being removed throughout the South.
