Four Suffer Serious Injuries in Head-On Collision in New Tecumseth

Four people have suffered serious injuries in a head-on collision in New Tecumseth early Friday morning.

Just before 1 a.m. on June 8, 2018, Nottawasaga OPP officers were called to the scene of collision involving two vehicles. Police say that a Ford Escape and a Nissan collided head-on on the 5th Line of New Tecumseth between Tottenham Road and Sideroad 10.

The 20-year-old female driver of the Ford Escape was trapped inside the vehicle and had to be extricated by New Tecumseth fire fighters. The woman was transported by air ambulance to a Toronto hospital with life threatening injuries.

All three of the 19-year-old men in the Nissan also sustained serious injuries. The driver was transported by ambulance to a Toronto hospital, one passenger was taken by air ambulance to a Toronto hospital and the other passenger was taken to a local hospital.

Officers were assisted at the scene by Central Region Technical Traffic Collision Investigation team, Simcoe County Paramedics and New Tecumseth Fire Department.

The 5th Line will remain closed for several hours while TTCI continue to investigate the collision.
