Female Players Swap Skimpy Skirts And Plunging Tops For Jumpers And Trousers After New Strict Dress Code Is Enforced At The Women’s British Open

Golfers taking part in the Women’s British Open have been forced to cover up on the course as a new strict dress code is enforced at the tournament for the first time.  Players arriving for the first day of the competition at Kingsbarns, near St. Andrews, yesterday donned long-sleeve tops, loose trousers and jumpers after being told they could no longer wear racerback tops, short skirts or tops with plunging necklines.  While the blustery wind means many would have wrapped up anyway, players had little choice after the new rules were introduced by the sport’s governing body, the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) last month.  The move has drawn widespread criticism from some of the sport’s biggest stars, who claimed it was slut shaming and said it could deter younger fans.
