Family Escapes Early Morning Fire in Aurora

On May 17, 2017, just after 2 am, Central York Fire Services responded to a residential house fire on Ames Crescent in the area of Bayview Avenue and Wellington Street East in Aurora. Residents of the home, two adults and two children, were alerted to the fire by working smoke alarms and were able to safely leave the home.
When crews arrived, the home was fully involved in fire with heavy smoke coming from the garage and front of the home. Nearby homes were evacuated as a precaution but suppression crews were able to contain the fire and extinguish it before it spread.
It is believed the fire started in the garage of the home but the cause is still under investigation. There were no reported injuries.
