Ontario voters will be using electronic voting machines in next month’s provincial election.
Officials say , when voters go to their polling station, a machine will scan their notice of registration card, similar to the scanning of food codes at a grocery store.
Voters will then be given a ballot, which they will mark and then hand back to the official, who will put it through the tabulating machine.
Elections Ontario says the new technology was tested at two byelections in 2016, and has also been also used in a variety of municipal elections.
