Driver Hits Collision Scene At High Speed On Highway 12

The Orillia OPP and emergency workers responded to a serious collision shortly before 5:00 p.m. New Year’s Eve on Highway 12.

While emergency crews were tending to the persons involved in the collision, a vehicle ignored the closed road signs and drove into the collision scene at high speed.

A 21-year-old male of Severn Township was arrested and charged with:

  • Dangerous driving
  • Drive on closed highway
  • Drive no insurance
  • Operate unsafe vehicle
  • Drive no licence
  • In addition to 4 additional Highway Traffic Act Offences

Police remind motorists to be cautious, reduce speed and follow the direction of emergency personnel who may be directing traffic at collision scenes.  Roads are generally closed during these incidents to provide a safe workspace for vulnerable emergency workers.
