On This Day, Nov 3rd

On this day in music history in 1957 Great Balls of Fire by Jerry Lee Lewis and At the Hop by Danny and The Juniors were released.  They would both go to number 1.

In 1961 Jimmie Rodgers, Hank Williams and Fred Rose became the first people elected into the Country Music Hall Of Fame.

In 1972 James Taylor and Carly Simon were married in New York.  They have since split up.

In 1977 on this date, Elton John announced that he was retiring from live performances.  He started back at it 2 years later.  Elton plays the Meridian Centre in St. Catharines on November 15th.  Tickets are still available at Ticketmaster
