Your outlook may have more to do with your health than we thought previously.
A new study on optimism and heart health adds a little more evidence worth considering.
The study included more than 4,900 people points to the positive effects of being a cup half full kind of person.
“The correlation between optimism and cardiovascular health was consistent across heritage groups, regardless of age, sex, or level of acculturation.”
Along with heart health, previous research has also linked optimism with better mental health outcomes – primarily, it seems, because being optimistic enables more effective coping and adapting to what life throws our way.
The study also considered that being more positive may lead people to be more conscious of leading a healthy lifestyle including exercise and eating healthy foods.
