Counterfeit Currency Is A Trending Problem In Orillia

The OPP is warning the public of the growing threat of counterfeit currency that has been circulating around Orillia in recent weeks.

On February 6, 2018, the OPP’s Community Street Crime Unit received a call regarding counterfeit currency being used in Orillia. The CSCU discovered counterfeit 100 and 20 Unites States Dollar bills in the town.

The Orillia OPP and Orillia CSCU would like to remind local businesses and citizens alike to be cautions when accepting USD or large bills in Canadian Currency. Please take the steps to protect your interests by not accepting certain bills or dealing with financial institutions for currency exchange.
