Bradford Man Victim of $5,000 Canada Revenue Fraud

On Tuesday, January 9, 2018,  a Bradford man reported an internet fraud.  He told officers that he received a call, purportedly from Canada Revenue Agency, that he owed a past outstanding balance.  He was then instructed to meet with the “Government Agent” at a location in Brampton to pay this outstanding amount.

The victim is out $5000.00.

The suspect is described as, male, tan complexion, black slicked hair, facial hair, wearing a black suit driving a black Hyundai car.

Police have seen an increase in these types of frauds as of late. South Simcoe Police remind the public that the Canada Revenue Agency will never telephone you and demand payment. If you receive such a call, contact the CRA directly for advice.
