Ambassador Bridge To Be Replaced

The federal government has given the green light for a new

billion-dollar bridge connecting Ontario and Detroit to replace the

 aging Ambassador Bridge.

Transport Minister Marc Garneau says the private owner of the

87-year-old bridge, the busiest border crossing between Canada and

the United States, can begin building its six-lane replacement.

Almost one-quarter of all goods traded between Canada and the

United States move across the Ambassador Bridge.

In 2015 around 2.5-million trucks travelled across the bridge and

4.2-million passenger vehicles traversed it as well. (The Canadian
