Alleged Wrong Way Driver Causes Collision On Hwy 11

On Wednesday April 11, 2018 at 7:15 p.m. emergency crews responded to a collision in the northbound lanes of Highway 11 at Menoke Beach Rd, Orillia.

A witness tells Muskoka411 the driver allegedly left Tim Hortons near Webers, got into his vehicle and drove the wrong way on Hwy 11 hitting two other vehicles before this collision. Unconfirmed reports say the driver may have been impaired.

Severn Fire, County of Simcoe Paramedic Services, an off duty Doctor, Nurse, and Paramedic along with several concerned citizens were also on scene tending to the injured parties and assisting.

 

A lone male driver was going southbound in the northbound lane and collided with a vehicle, travelling northbound, carrying two young children. The female driver was airlifted to a Toronto area hospital by Air Ornge with life threatening injuries, her two children were brought to an Orillia area hospital with minor injuries and later discharged. The other driver was transported to an Orillia area hospital with serious injuries.

The highway was closed for six hours for the police investigation.

Orillia OPP are looking for witnesses after a collision involving a wrong way driver on Highway 11 near Cumberland Beach. Any witnesses who may have observed the vehicle or the collision are asked to call OPP at 1-888-310-1122
