The provincial government has announced a plan to widen an 18-kilometre stretch of Highway 401 in Mississauga. The plan is to add HOV lanes and widen the portion between the Credit River to Hwy 25 in Milton. It will go from 6 lanes to 10, while other parts will be doubled to 12 lanes. This is building on plans announced last year to double the width of a four kilometre stretch of the 401 from Hurontario to the Credit River. The government says the expansion will relieve congestion.
