South Simcoe Police say they were called to an Alcona coffee shop on Saturday, September 2, 2017, at 5:40 a.m., for an intoxicated patron. Police located a woman, not dressed for the cold weather, who was taken to the station to sober up.
While in custody, the woman told police that she needed to get home to Barrie to care for her one year old child. Barrie Police responded to the woman’s home and located a one year old child that had been left alone. The suspect, a 19 year old woman from Barrie, was turned over to Barrie Police. She was charged with Child Abandonment and Possession of Marijuana. The child was in good health and turned over to a responsible family member.
